The MediaShed and The Junction invite you to come and melt cold Antarctic data into shapes for your ears and eyes. MediaShed special agent Adam Hyde from r a d i o q u a l i a and the team has been setting up the first Polar Radio station on the ice cap, collecting sounds, images and weather data from atmospheric electricity and beaming them back to the MediaShed. You can follow their expedition at www.interpolar.org
There are two ways to get involved :
Download Antarctic data samples from http://adj.mediashed.org, make tracks, images or videos and bring them along to the jam. If that sounds too tricky then come to our workshops 2pm - 6pm on the 10th and 17th February and learn how to use PureData to play with the data. In the evening we will perform the best tracks that people have made in the workshops or have sent us.
The Junction Jam features :
a.. guest workshop leader Aymeric Mansoux from goto10.org
b.. guest speaker from the British Antarctic Survey with a photo presentation on living and working in the scenery and wildlife of the Antarctic continent.
The events will go out live on Skintstream.net and the coolest tracks will go onto the Antarctic Data Jam CD !
